Painting, Painting, and More Painting

I want to start off by saying- I love my husband... but when it comes to how long things really take, he has no sense of time. He got it in his head that we were going to get our whole house painted last weekend. That was a nice thought, but completely off. It's now Thursday, (we owned the house for a week today!) and there still a lot of painting still to do.

Here some progress pictures- here is what the living room looked like of Saturday morning.

Here is the back of the room on-

Here is what the living room looked like Sunday evening-

Like I said before, picking colors isn't my thing but lucky for me I have friends who are better at this then me. And here is what the living room looking like currently-

I know the back wall looks like it's the same color as before in the picture, but it's not- it's a little lighter (it's the middle upper color in the picture from Sunday). We still need to put a second coat of paint on the tan/yellow walls, and we still need to paint the trimming white. But we're getting there.

Also, we have been working on getting the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom painted. The hope is (we see if it happens) that we get all the main rooms that are going to be used (living, front room, kitchen/ dinning room, upstairs bathroom, and our bedroom) get painted before our big move on Monday. I hope it works out, but we'll see what happens. Wish us luck!

Playing House Over My 3-Day Weekend

Happy Memorial  Labor Day! (Maybe it's just me but I keep saying the wrong holiday. For some reason I can't keep them straight)

This weekend has been filled with many trips to the hardware store and spending A LOT of money. Being that both Sam and I had all weekend off together, we are trying to get as much done on the house as we can.

So the goal for the weekend- paint, paint and more paint. Here is the living room as we found it-

And this is what it currently looks like-

So I'm really not good about knowing what paint colors I like or even want, so I ended up buying 6 different paint samples. However with a little help from friends, all the colors are picked and now they just need to be put up on the walls.

On top of picking out paint colors, we started stocking on our refrigerator. Currently I guess we are living off a liquid diet (oh- and there was salsa but that's long gone).

Our hope is to have our big move in next Monday, so we are trying to get everything cleaned, painted, and ready, so after next week we can finally start living full time in our new home.

The buying part was very stressful (there is a full story about that); the moving in part is exciting but having a short timeline to get a lot of things done is also stressful. I'll just be excited when I can finally come home, make dinner, sit down, watch tv, and just live in the house. But until then- I got some painting to do!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Look at what I got!

This week has been so crazy- hence the lack of blogging. But look I what I got today!

Sam and I are officially home owners! How crazy is that! I know this is what we been waiting for months, but now with the keys in my hands it's seems so surreal. I'll be giving more details on the events leading up to this moment, but for now it's time to relax and enjoy this once in a life time moment with my husband.

I hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend!

Mike & Ashley's Wedding- The After Party

I haven't been to too many weddings, so I'm not sure if it's common or not to have an "after party" after a wedding reception but being we had a few friends who were visiting from out of town, it was nice to get to spend some extra time visiting with them.

After the wedding we headed to our traditional "watering hole" for a drink and some quality time. At a wedding it can be hard to get caught up with your friends because there is so much else going on.

The night was going awesome. We were hanging out with some friends we don't get to see too often and we were reminiscing on all the good times we have had together.

Closing time came so it was finally time to call it a night or so we thought.

We all were saying our goodbyes and about to get into our cars when Chris noticed he didn't have his keys. So the questions became- where could Chris's keys be? Answer-

Locked in his car.

So what would a former locksmith do? Break into his own car.

Watching this show was one of the most entertaining parts of the whole night.  However, after 45 minutes of using screwdrivers, a rag, lights from our cellphones, and a coat hanger- the boys were finally able to get the door unlocked.

It was a awesome day- from the wedding, to the reception, to the after part- I couldn't have asked to be around better people.

My Big Girl Job- One Year Reflect!

So I'm proud to say that I have officially been at my job for a whole year now! Also today was the first day of the new school year, so that is always exciting (and stressful). I love the energy a new fall semester brings to a college campus.

Today's weather was beautiful for the start of school year- middle 70's and partly cloudy. I love being able to do a lap or two around campus during my lunch hour especially on days like today. And I'm proud to say I did make it out of my office for one lap today even with the craziness that is the start of school year.

(My professional work photo)

Unlike last year I know what is expected on me and I now feel like I will be able to enjoy my job even more. Also, unlike last year, most of my students have met me and I don't always get asked the question "What happened to Pam?" (which is the lady I replaced).

Here is my "new year resolutions" for this school year-

I want to get more involved with campus. This includes going to campus events, volunteering, and/ or just being more social with my coworkers.

Happy New School Year!

Mike & Ashley's Wedding- The Reception

With any wedding there is a build up of energy. There is excitement for each step of the journey to the alter, but it's not until you get to the reception that the energy that has been building up is finally released. The reception is the time to enjoy all the effort you have put into this one major day of your life. And Mike and Ashley's reception was a really good time.

I have to say, Ashely has really good taste. I thought the ballroom was beautiful and I liked the decor she had picked out. I'm not just saying this because she's my friend- I'm saying from 8 years of banqueting experience where I have seen 100's of wedding receptions over those years- she did a really good job.

I also really liked her wedding cake. I haven't seen too many people put candles on their wedding cake, but I kind of like how it looks. It's something different.

Being that Sam was in the wedding party and was sitting at the head table, I'm glad I had so many friends who also were at their wedding. However, you'll get that when your friend group hasn't changed too much since high school.

Of course with any wedding reception there was...

The cake cutting...

The toasts...

The first dance...

The bouquet toss...

The garter throw... (where the best man got hit in the mouth and started bleeding)

Not many more picture were taken after this point because I was too busy dancing my butt off on the dance floor. It was a good night with great friends. However, there story does end here. There is an after party story that needs to be told. However, I'll you just have to a little longer but here is a sneak peak...

Oh how I love my friends! They make for good stories!

Mike & Ashley's Wedding- The Ceremony

Last Saturday was our friends Mike and Ashely's wedding. Being that this week has been so crazy, I haven't had a chance to do a recap all the fun until today.

The day started off (well after all of this stuff) with me dropping Sam off to ride with Mike to the venue to get ready. Sam brought over doughnuts (that's what is hanging out of Mike's mouth) to share, but to our surprise no one else was riding with the groom. Oh well, it's the thought that counts.

The day couldn't have been more prefect. The sunny was shining and the temperature was just right. I was too afraid to every consider an outdoor wedding, but the weather last Saturday is every bride's dream who wishes for a prefect outdoor wedding day.

The ceremony was short, sweet, and to the point.

They walked in....

(I really liked the girls dresses!)

They said their vows...

They did a "sand" ceremony....

They kissed....

They walked out...

The End! It was was really nice.

After the ceremony the night really got started, but you'll just have to wait to the reception recap!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
