Oh Valentine's Day...

So does anyone else think Valentine's Day had really bad timing this is year or what? I didn't give up anything for Lent this year, but if I had Valentine's Day would have been no fun. Giving up chocolate the day before Valentine's Day- I DON'T THINK SO!

So I'm total guilty of showing my love through food. Here is what I got Sam for Valentine's Day-

Yeah... he's a guy. Doughnut, beer, and candy works well. No card needed.

Keeping with the food theme... one of my coworkers had the great idea of having a "Chocolate Party" today to celebrate V-Day. I think she just wanted all of us to go into a dietetic coma. I decide to go against the norm and I brought red valet cupcake.

I figure if someone did give up chocolate, this would be a way not to cheat. And being red valet- it seemed fitting for the holiday.

Sam didn't really get me anything, but he did make dinner. So that counts in my book. He did his fancy cooking and made us a roasted chicken. It was tasty!

Now that we are full and enjoying some relaxing time, I find myself having to share my valentine.

I guess it's nap time for the boys. That cat loves his daddy. He spends hours on laying on Sam. Sometimes I even have to kick him off, so I get my snuggles!

I hope everyone had a great day and got to feel a little loved! (Even if it is from a four legged fur ball!)

Happy Monday Friday!

Happy Monday Friday Everyone! Ok- maybe just for me. Today is both a Monday & Friday for me because it was the first day of the work week and I have tomorrow off! Thank you Mr. Lincoln for your birthday being a work holiday!

I know it's been a week since I last posted. And you want know what happen this last week... I got a week older. And that's about it.

(Oh- and a week closer to our cruise! In three weeks we'll be on a boat! Can you tell I'm excited?)

Speaking of getting older- today is also my cousin birthday! I love she is only 2 months to the day younger than me.

I sent her a text welcoming here into the "27 Year Old Club" and told her it's not so bad. This year will be an exciting one for her because she's getting married in September. I'm excited to go to her wedding, so we can be old married ladies together! Also maybe we can be like our moms and have kids at the same time so they can have some to play with at family reunions.

Well- I hope everyone had a nice Monday! My big plans for tomorrow are to going to the mall/ Sears and get my tires rotated. That's exciting stuff around here... (sad but true). Have a good night everyone!

Funny Story Friday!

Happy Friday Everyone! I'm excited because I took the day off- so I get a 3 day weekend! Also, in just a few hours I'll be hitting the road with my girlfriends for a weekend road trip/ gateway. My weekends for the past for months have been same- staying home, maybe having people over, and just relaxed. So it will be fun to get out of town for the weekend and shake things up a bit.

However, I'm not here to talk about my weekend- I'm here to talk about my husband and the things you learn about each other even after you get married. You would thing that after 10+ years of dating and over a year of marriage, that my husband wouldn't surprise me anymore, but that would be wrong. This happen the other day- I saw this bowl...

Now, I'm not surprised when I find a dirty bowl not in the sink or not in the dishwasher, but where I found this bowl made me go "Really?!? Like really?!?" Let me give you the whole picture of what I saw...

That is correct- I found the bowl sitting on the bathroom floor right by the towel. (Also a cup, but for some reason that just seemed less weird then the bowl at the time.) So like any wife would do, I asked "Why is there a bowl on the bathroom floor?" Without missing a beat the husband replies "I was eating cereal." Here is how the rest of that conversation went...

Me: "So you were eating cereal in the bathroom... on the towel?"
Husband: "Yeah. So."
Me: "That's weird."
Husband: "I had the bowl already and then I had to go. I don't see the problem."
Me: "It's not a problem, but it's weird"

At that point, there was nothing else to say. In retrospect, this just seems like a guy way of multitasking. To me it seems weird (and a little gross), but a total guy thing to do. It was two things he needed to do in the morning, so why not do them at the same time.

Happy Funny Story Friday! Hope you have a great weekend!

Needing to Get Out of Town

So I'm excited that my girlfriends and I are getting out of town for the weekend. For our much needed little getaway we are heading to visit University of Indiana, because that is where my girlfriend Alison lives. Like myself, Alison works for a university which is kind of cool because we were friends first (since high school) and happen to get jobs in the same field.

(Turnabout Dance 2002)

It been a months since I've gotten out of town for a weekend trip. Also it will be the first time that I'm leaving the kitty alone with Sam. I know that kitty is in good hands with his daddy as long as he takes his meds.

I'm not sure if there is many plans for the weekend, but I know that Alison will show us a good time. This is the 4th university we've made a road trip to visit her at. One of my favorite visits was in 2009 which is when these classic pictures was taken.

(For some reason everyone wanted to touch my face!)

Here hoping for another get girls trip and a 3 day weekend!

Is It the Weekend Yet?

I'm not sure what my problem is today, but for some reasons I'm just really off. I'm going to guess it would be from the really random sleep I got last night. Here is a quick glimpse into how my night went...

10:45pm- Went to bed.

11:00pm- Fell a sleep.

1:30am- Got up because I heard Sam was having a hard time giving the cat his meds. I tried to help but was told to go back to bed- so I did.

2:15am- Woke up for a few seconds- I woke myself up because I screamed in my sleep. Sam was next to me reading a book and he didn't know what was going on. He asked if I was ok- I think I told "I'm fine. I'm sorry.", but I could be wrong. (I had a dream about something stabbing me in my lower back- weird)

5:00am- Woke up because I thought I heard the cat coking/ panting. Not the case, Sam just was breathing loudly.

7:15am- Woke up before my alarm and got ready for work.

So needless to say- my day started off on the wrong foot. To prove I wasn't on my game today, I kept thinking it was Thursday (I wish). I even told a student on the phone it was my late night (which only happens on Thursdays) and then my coworker ran into my office with a sticky note that said "It's not your late night!!". Lucky for me the student wanted to come in before 5pm or I guess I would have been staying late.

However, since leaving work my day has gotten better. My dad came over and we order a pizza, and now we're watching Chicago Fire (I'm big fan of this show). All I can hope for at this point is that I get a better night sleep tonight, and tomorrow goes smoother.

Don't we all just have some of those days...

Man vs. Wedding Ring

Here is a question I want to put out there... do you care if your man wears his wedding ring?

The reason why I ask is because mine doesn't. Well, kinda... He wears his around his neck.

This was the only picture I could find where you can see the ring, because most of the time in tucked into his shirt.

Before the wedding, we debated if it was worth getting him a ring at all. He has allergies to most metals so we weren't sure what type of ring we could get him. After some research we found a metal that wouldn't be reactive to his skin (which happened to cost a lot more, but we decided to get it anyway.)

After the wedding, Sam tried to wear his ring like a good husband. However, it just didn't work for him. Between his hand swelling and shrinking which made the ring fit funny and him working in a restaurant where it got sticky and banged around- he was just not having this whole ring wearing thing. So finally one day Sam asked if I cared if he didn't wear it... and I did care.

I'm not sure why the thought of him not wearing it made me sad. Maybe it's because we spent so much money on the ring and I didn't want it sitting in a box in his dresser. Or maybe it was because I wanted him to wear it as a symbol of our relationship- our marriage.

He made the point that we had dated for 10 years with no ring on his finger and he was committed to our relationship as much then as his is now. But it still didn't sit well with me. So I came up with the necklace idea as a compromise.

The string just broke the other day. After over a year of 24/7 wear it was bound to happen. But other then re-string it every so often, the necklace compromise has worked out well. He wears the necklace all the time so he technically is wearing his ring, and his not going crazy because it's not on his hand. It works for us.

Question- Do you care if your man wears his wedding ring? I would love to hear so other options on the subject.
