Sammy Jay- 3 Week Update

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. I know we did- well until last night when Sammy was up a good chunk of the night because he pretty much slept through all the Thanksgiving festivities. Also there has been no shopping for us today because the only thing lil man has wanted to do it eat, eat, and eat some more today. I guess he didn't get the memo that yesterday was the day of stuffing your face.  

Speaking of faces- this little boy is the king of making faces. Here is a few pictures I took on Wednesday all while we were just cuddling on the couch.

 

 

 

 

 

That last picture makes me think he's up to no good and he's got some kind of plan in mind.

 

Being that he is 3 weeks old, I assumed I would have a better hang of this mom thing but being that he still is no where near having a regular schedule- it's still pretty tough on mommy (& daddy). Also this week I had my first official mommy breakdown. I know most people don't want to talk about the "downsides" of things, but when you can't figure out why your baby is fussing or crying- it does take it's toll on you. However, I'm lucky enough to have a good hubby who is willing to step in and take over when needed. Also, I made sure to treat myself to a short girls afternoon where I went out to lunch and got my toes painted. I knew Sammy was in good hands with his daddy, plus I made sure there were enough bottles of milk to last while I was out.

 

This motherhood thing has been an interesting ride so far, and I'm hoping that we start getting into a better groove soon. Wish us luck! And I hope everyone has a great weekend!

 



It's funny how life works...

Happy Monday Everyone! I hope you're keeping warm if you live in the midwest because it's crazy cold out there.



 

I can't believe that today was supposed to be of the day I met my son. Instead today is the day that I take my son to a doctors appointment to make sure his hips are going to grow correctly. Being that he was breach, hip issues are a common concern. This appointment is one of many I can see in my future with my son.

I'm excited for this week because Sam has the whole week off of work! So that means we will get to do a lot of family bonding time this week! Also on the agenda for this week is to finally sending out the thank you notes from my baby showers. I know my showers were a number of weeks ago but I figured I would do a birth announcement/ thank you card all in one. There's nothing like killing two birds with one stone. In order to make the thank you cards I wanted, I needed to get some nice photos of the baby first. So that's what we did this weekend.



Being that I don't own a fancy cameras (and I'm too cheap to pay for professional photos), I'm lucky enough to have good friends to do and were generous enough to let us borrow them. Additionally our friends Katie and Adriana came over to do the photo shoot of lil man. Really they just wanted to play with the baby and take some pictures, so that's what we did.

Salvatore Jay's Birth Story

Warning: This is a heavy photo post! I hope you enjoy lots of baby pictures!

 

 

I can't believe that just one week ago my life was forever change with the birth of our baby boy Salvatore Jay. Being that Salvatore is a bit of a month full, we have decided to go with Sammy for short. Grandpa Salvatore always went by Sam, so Sammy is fitting. However, it sounds like a lot of my family is going to call him "Sammy Jay" because Jay is my grandpa's name- so this with all sides of the family are accounted for.

Being that to type out his whole birth story would probably take me the next few days to get all written out- I decided another "V-log" as the way to go to tell the story. I know the video is long (almost 20 minutes), but at least you'll get the whole story in this one shot. I hope you enjoy!

Good morning! Happy Friday!

So...Yeah... That Happen

So much for that count down. This man had plans of his own. 

Being that he was breech, I was convinced that he was going to stay comfy/ cozy until the 17th. Well I guess the joke was on me. 

To make a long story short (I will write the long story when I'm not writing a pot via phone)- my water broke at work, so it was go time for us!

Being that I hadn't even packed my bag yet (oops), we made a quick stop at home before heading to the hospital. 

Once we got to the hospital things moved pretty quickly because my contractions were about 2 minutes apart.

In less than 3 hours of getting to the hospital, baby Salvatore Jay was here!

I'm happy to report everyone is doing well. And my recovery has been going really smoothly. The nurse said she needs  to get me a "superwoman" cape because I'm already up and walking around in less than 16 hours after having surgery (even if it's at a slow lady pace).

I know there be many more pictures on Facebook to come, but I just wanted to at least give everyone a quick update.
